Oat Burgers & White Gravy

Oat Burgers

4 ½ cups of water

¼ cup of organic tamari

3 tablespoons of olive oil

4 ½ cups of old-fashioned oats

1 cup of walnuts, chopped

½ cup of onion, chopped

½ teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon of sea salt

1 teaspoon of basil

Bring water, tamari, and olive oil to boil in a large saucepan. Add oats and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Allow to cool just slightly and form into patties on oil-sprayed cookie sheet, using a round ¼ cup measure or ice cream scoop to make uniform patties. With wet fingers, flatten patties and round edges.

Bake at 350° F for 30-35 minutes.


White Gravy

2 ½ cups of water

½ cup of cashews

1/8 cup of cornstarch

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of onion powder

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

Blend smooth all except 2 cups of water. Pour into saucepan. Rinse blender with the remaining water. Add to pan. Lightly boil 1-2 minutes, stirring.
